What are Asteroids? Asteroids are rocky and metallic objects that orbit the Sun. They are very small to be considered planets. They are commonly known as minor planets. Asteroids range in size from Ceres, which has a diameter of about 1000 km, to the size of small pebbles. The bigger asteroids have been found inside Earth's orbit to beyond Saturn's orbit. Most, however, are contained within a main belt that exists between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

What are meteoroids?

Not all asteroids are confined to the asteroid belt. There are several hundred known asteroids that regularly cross the orbit of the Earth. They are known as Earth-crossing asteroids.They range in size from several miles in diameter to the size of a small pebble. Sometimes these objects get close enough to the Earth that they are pulled in by its gravity. Outside the Earth's atmosphere, these objects are known as meteoroids. Asteroids that are on a collision course with Earth are called meteoroids.

Asteroid Chiron

Chiron was discovered in 1977. It is named after a centaur ( that is half human, half horse) who was healer and teacher to many gods. It is said that when he died he was placed in the sky as the constellation Sagittarius. Chiron appears to rule philosophy and healing, and represents the principal of holistic understanding. In a natal chart it can indicate an open-minded perspective and the ability to look beyond the limitations of life . Chiron seems to add a spirit of uniqueness and enthusiasm.

Pallas Athena

Pallas, Athena in Greek mythology, is known as the goddess of wisdom. She is said to rule the realm of wisdom . Pallas was a patron of the arts and gave many creative gifts to humankind, and sometimes was known as a goddess of health. She was wise, helpful, objective, and known for her absolute chastity. She represents the creative, intelligent woman. People who have Pallas prominent in their birth charts may serve or care for others.
